Thorngumbald Parish Council

Serving Thorngumbald, Camerton and Ryehill

The Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) Scheme is about local people working together to create strong, friendly, active communities where crime and anti-social behaviour are less likely to happen.

It’s about you looking out for your neighbours and them looking out for you to create a place in which people are safe from crime and enjoy a good quality of life. Neighbourhood Watch is about making sure that fewer people feel afraid, vulnerable or isolated in the place where they live.

Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators play a key role in sharing information between residents and the police.

National statistics show that if you live in a Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) area, your chance of being burgled reduces making it one of the most successful crime prevention initiatives in the country.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Thorngumbald Parish Council are committed to supporting NHW; the Police and other agencies work closely with the Councils to support NHW Groups.

The co-ordinator for Thorngumbald is Michael Ferrier – he can be contacted by email nhwthornmain@outlook.com or, if you have no internet access, at Royal Mail Cottage, Main Road, HU129NF.

More co-ordinators are always welcome, especially for Camerton and Ryehill, to enable us to better cover whole Parish – if you would like to volunteer or get more information please contact the Community and Crime Reduction Resilience Officer:

Maureen Yates – 01482 396380 maureen.yates@eastriding.gcsx.gov.uk
